Shelby Blair
(she/they)
Clinical Intern
I am a lifelong Fargo resident. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2023. I am currently working towards my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) through Capella University. As an MFT student, I will specialize in improving relationships. I hope to build a career working primarily with couples, families and other groups, but I am also passionate about working with individuals. I will be working with Autonomy as an intern from Summer 2025-Summer 2026.
I have a background in pediatric behavioral healthcare, neurodivergence, disabilities and community action. I have developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges families face within the Fargo-Moorhead community, especially the impact of poverty on local families. I am also passionate about LGBTQIA+ issues and the systemic challenges that disproportionately impact BIPOC communities.
I would describe myself first and foremost as a learner. I understand the importance of curiosity when it comes to upholding a client's best interest and aspire to always engage with curiosity at the forefront of my mind. I heavily subscribe to collaborative language systems, meaning I strive to uphold the client as the expert of their own life. My role as a therapist is to collaborate with you as your teammate towards a goal that you are passionate about, not to tell you how to live your life. In my free time, I enjoy video games, art and listening to podcasts about philosophy. I am looking forward to working with you!
